Frequently asked questions.
Life carries on while we work.
Yes. It is how we normally work. The programme is split into zones agreed with the home, so rooms and communal areas come back into use in a controlled order while the rest of the home carries on as normal.
Working areas, access routes and hours are agreed with management before anything starts. Noisy or disruptive work is scheduled around routines, dust and noise are controlled, and the site is left clean and tidy at the end of every day.
Risk assessments and method statements are prepared before works start, everyone on site is inducted and supervised, and work areas are kept separate from residents, staff and visitors.
Yes. Phasing floor by floor, wing by wing or room by room is how we keep a home operating during the works, and the phases are agreed with you before we start.
Fire safety is carefully considered throughout our projects. Before work begins, we review the existing fire safety plans. Depending on the scope of works, we can install new fire-rated systems and materials, or make sure existing fire compartmentation is maintained, with any openings or service penetrations sealed using suitable fire-stopping materials.
Yes. We have completed projects in dementia care environments, including a full refurbishment, considering the needs of residents throughout. We can also advise on finishes and layouts that help support residents living with dementia.
Full or partial, new build or existing.
Yes. Care homes and retirement living are what we do, from full refurbishments and new-build fit-outs to partial works on individual bedrooms, bathrooms or communal areas.
Bedrooms and en-suites, bathrooms and wet rooms, lounges, dining rooms, corridors and receptions, kitchens, flooring, decorating, joinery, ceilings and partitions, lighting and electrical.
We provide design support and planning alongside the build: layout ideas, product and finish recommendations, material choices and accessibility considerations. We do not provide full architectural design, and we coordinate with your own architect or design team where one is involved.
We supply and fit flooring, kitchens, sanitaryware and joinery as part of the works. Ask us about loose furniture and soft furnishings for your project and we will confirm what we can include.
Yes. Accessible bathrooms, wet rooms and en-suites are a core part of our care home work.
Yes. We work with care groups that have several homes and with small independent homes.
Yes. As principal contractor we manage the programme, subcontractors, site coordination and reporting, so a group can run works across more than one home with a single point of contact.
What to expect from first contact to handover.
It depends on the scope, the number of rooms and areas, and the condition of the building. Every project is priced individually against a clear scope, and any extra work found once we are on site is priced and agreed with you before it is carried out.
It depends on the size of the home and how many areas are worked on at once. You get a programme before we start, and if unforeseen problems are found, such as failing pipework, we price the extra work and agree revised timescales with you before carrying on.
Yes. A site visit comes first, so the scope, phasing and any constraints in the building are understood before a price is put together. Most care home work is tendered, and we are used to working within that process.
We provide care home refurbishment and fit-out services nationwide, working with clients across the UK to deliver projects tailored to their individual requirements.
