What we do

A whole new home,
or a single room.

New homes need fitting out before the first residents arrive. Established homes need upgrading without closing. We work at whatever scale the building needs.

Bathrooms, kitchens, flooring and lighting fitted out ready for opening.

Full refurbishment

Whole-home upgrades, phased zone by zone with residents in place.

Partial refurbishment

Individual bedrooms, bathrooms or en-suites, or a single floor or wing.
Who we work for

Your setting.
Our understanding.

From a new home getting ready to open to an established care group estate, every project starts with the people who live and work there, and with how the building has to keep running while we are in it.

Care groups

Estates and facilities teams managing works across several homes.

Working in live, occupied homes

The home stays open.
Care carries on.

Anyone can refurbish an empty building. In a care home, mealtimes, medication rounds and visiting hours all have to keep running while the work goes on. That is the part we plan first, with your home's management, before anyone picks up a tool.

01 / Phased works

The programme is split into zones and sequenced with the home, so rooms come back into use in a controlled order.

02 / Dust, noise and cleanliness

Dust and noise controlled, safe access routes kept clear, and a clean, tidy site at the end of every day.

03 / Safe around residents

Site inductions, supervision and safeguarding awareness for a setting where the people around us are vulnerable.

04 / One point of contact

Daily contact with your facilities manager and a written report every week. No chasing for updates.

Why ProFix Care

Good work starts with a good working relationship.

  • You stay informed

Daily contact with your facilities manager and a written report every week, covering progress, upcoming works and decisions needed.
  • Surprises handled properly

When extra work turns up once a job has started, it is priced, a revised timescale is agreed with you, and the programme is replanned before we carry on.
  • More than
    the spec

We suggest improvements above the original brief, and where it makes sense we take on small extras while we are already on site.

    Common questions

    Before we begin.

    Working in live homes

Can you refurbish a care home while residents remain in the building?
Yes. It is how we normally work. Works are phased and planned with your home's management so residents, staff and visitors stay safe and the home keeps running.
How do you minimise disruption to residents and staff?
We agree a phased plan with your management team before we start, working zone by zone so only small areas are out of use at any one time. Noisy work is scheduled around mealtimes, medication rounds and rest periods, dust is controlled at source and work areas are cleaned down every day. You get daily contact with us on site and a written progress report each week.
How do you manage fire safety and compliance during the works?
Fire safety is carefully considered throughout our projects. Before work begins, we review the existing fire safety plans. Depending on the scope of works, we can install new fire-rated systems and materials, or make sure existing fire compartmentation is maintained, with any openings or service penetrations sealed using suitable fire-stopping materials.
Do you have experience with dementia-friendly environments?
Yes. We have completed projects in dementia care environments, including a full refurbishment, considering the needs of residents throughout. We can also advise on finishes and layouts that help support residents living with dementia.

    Scope of work

Do you carry out partial refurbishments, or only whole homes?
Both. We take on individual bedrooms, en-suites and bathrooms, a single floor or wing, or one communal area, as well as full refurbishments. Partial works are planned in exactly the same way, so the rest of the home carries on as normal.
Do you fit out new care homes before they open?
Yes. We fit out new homes ready for their first residents, including bathrooms and wet rooms, kitchens, flooring, lighting and electrical work, joinery and decoration, working to the developer's or operator's programme and handover date.
What areas of a care home can you refurbish?
Bedrooms and en-suites, bathrooms and wet rooms, kitchens, lounges and dining rooms, corridors, offices and staff areas. That includes flooring, decorating, joinery, ceilings, partitions, lighting and electrical work.
Do you work with both independent homes and care groups?
Yes. We work for single independent homes and for care groups managing several sites, including RMBI. Groups get one point of contact and the same standard of work across every home.

    Timescales and aftercare

How long does a care home refurbishment take?
It depends on the size of the home and how many areas are being worked on at once. You get a programme before we start, and if we uncover hidden problems, such as failing pipework, we price the extra work and agree revised timescales with you before carrying on.
Which areas of the UK do you cover?
We provide care home refurbishment and fit-out services nationwide, working with clients across the UK to deliver projects tailored to their individual requirements.
